Jacqueline Mary (O’Connor) Tibbs was born June 22, 1925, to William and Marcelline O’Connor in Manchester, New Hampshire. She had two siblings: brother, William O’Connor and sister, Willene Katherine (O’Connor) Peterson. Growing up, Jacqueline moved from Manchester, New Hampshire to Dorchester, Massachusetts, Boston, Massachusetts, and back to Manchester, where she graduated from Central High School in 1942. That same year she enrolled at the Sacred Heart Nursing School and graduated in 1945.
In 1946, Jacqueline moved to Niles, Michigan, where she met a man named Theodore Tibbs. They got married on Saturday, September 27, 1947, and were blessed with four beautiful children: Janet, Sarah, Allen, and William. Jacqueline worked as a nurse the Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana for three years and as the Infection Control Supervisor at the Chope Hospital in San Mateo, California for 11 years. She was a member of St. John the Apostolic Catholic Church in Oregon City, Oregon. She is known and remembered as being an avid reader, very family oriented, one who loved to travel, to embroider, and to complete crossword puzzles, a lover of all flowers (except carnations), one who was blessed with the “gift of gab”, and an adventurous woman. She will also be remembered as a grandma who had a special love for her grandchildren; they were the reason she moved to Oregon.
Jacqueline is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Tibbs (05/09/1919-07/03/1989); daughter, Sarah Alana Tibbs (01/18/1953-12/28/1999); and her parents, William and Marcelline O’Connor.
