James Price Hamilton Jr., age 79, of Hillsboro, Oregon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. He was born in Portland, Oregon, where he spent his early years before building a life and career marked by dedication and hard work.
After returning from the Vietnam war, Jim became a highly skilled steamfitter who worked in industrial plants throughout his career. He was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and sharp intelligence, earning the respect and trust of colleagues who relied on his expertise. In 2016, he published a book, "Bending Layouts Made Easy."
Jim was a member of United Association Plumbers and Steamfitters for more than 45 years. He was a member of the Machinist and Air Space Workers and the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. For five years he was an F.C.C. licensed Commercial Radio Engineer at KKEY Radio, KYMN Radio, and KEX Radio. Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a man of quiet strength, resourcefulness, and integrity.
He approached life with a problem-solver’s mind and a generous heart. Those who knew him best will remember his dependability and the love and support he gave to family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but his influence and the memories shared will endure.
He is survived by his two sons, James and Tony. Jim was dear friends with his neighbors of twelve years, Frank and Christina Cappola and had a close relationship with Lori, Stefan, and Lily Ray.
Jim will be laid to rest at The Cremation Garden; Brick Memorial, Niche #2, Location #1115, at Skyline Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR 97229.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, intelligence, and love that will be cherished by all who knew him.
