James Bedford Phelps passed away on October 8, 2011 at the age of 67. He was born in Morgantown, Kentucky on May 26, 1944 and served in the US Army from 1966-1970. Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Phelps, two daughters; Angela Weipert of Anderson, Indiana and Lorie Arthur of Denver, Indiana; 2 sisters, Betty Burden of Kentucky and Annabelle Groover of Indiana; 9 grandchildren, and various nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ertist and Lucile (Martin) Phelps; and 2 sisters Bertha Willingham and Wilma Abernathy. He was a semi-retired after working 20 years for Emge Packing Co. of Indiana and several years at Classic-Aire Woodvents of Wilsonville, Oregon. Currently, Jim worked part time at Oregon Transfer through Express Personnel. Mr. Phelps was a member and trustee at Bethel Baptist Church, Portland, OR. He was an avid outdoorsman and a life time member of Canby Gun Club, the North-American Hunting Club.
Jim will be privately laid to rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon.
A celebration of Jim's life will take place at a date to be determined.
