Janet Joann Wells

Janet Joann (Neufeld) Wells M.D., age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 10, 2024, in Beaverton, Oregon. She was born on May 27, 1938, in Dallas, Texas to Alonzo John and Ada Mae (Horning) Neufeld. She is survived by her brothers John and Jerry Neufeld, daughters Karin, Cheryl and Cindy as well as her grandchildren, Kirsten, Karl and Kira.

Janet received a B.A. in Chemistry from Pacific Union College and an M.D. from Loma Linda University. She was a family practice physician, a dedicated wife and mother, grandmother and caregiver. Janet was known for her intelligence and creativity. She found ways to use her medical degree to help others throughout her life, including managing a free healthcare clinic. She was passionate about computers and math. She used her love of math to teach academy students, and she learned to code in Fortran using punch cards. Her enthusiasm inspired some of her daughters to pursue engineering and technology related fields. She also loved to cook, decorate cakes, sew, and play the piano and organ.

Janet dedicated her life to caring for a daughter with chronic Lyme disease and a granddaughter with PCDH19 epilepsy, so in lieu of flowers donations can be made to one of the following organizations
