Jason Albert Alldrin

On the evening of July 14th, Jason Alldrin suddenly and very unexpectedly passed away. He was a beloved father to Joseph, fiancé and partner to Lydia Berman, son of Leslie Holder and Rick Alldrin, and Leader of the Wolfpack to his siblings Steve, Rick, and Katy. Beyond this...he was all of our greatest friend.

Jason was never seen without a smile. His goofy energy and excitement brought any room alive. He was the guy who nourished everyone with delicious food and always found a way to make you laugh.

Jason grew up in NW Portland and attended Sunset High School, where he was an accomplished baseball pitcher. He then went on to play college baseball at OIT, where he realized his culinary passion after throwing many barbecues for friends. Jason then transferred to Western Culinary Institute in Portland, OR, where he graduated with honors. He then set off to Kona, Hawaii for two years in order to gain expertise in the flavors of the world. In 2005, he and his first wife Lindsey Darnell were blessed with the birth of their son, Joseph Alldrin.

Jason worked in the top kitchens on the Oregon coast, where he won the Iron Chef Goes Coastal 2010 Championship (even though he was too humble and would never admit it!). Jason was a passionate and accomplished chef. On the night of his passing, he had just created the business cards for his new catering company, "Free Bird Catering.” Jason was always working incredibly hard -- often starting his day at 4 am in the kitchen, all so he could provide a better life for his son Joe, and fiancé Lydia Berman. He was one of the most passionate and determined men -- always striving to do better, not for his own recognition, but out of love for his friends and family.

We have started a GoFundMe me in part to assist with funeral costs, but most importantly to create a college and support fund for his soon to be 14-year-old son Joe.

We are overwhelmed with the love and support of his friends and family -- Life will never be the same without him.
