John Terry Douglas October 1928 - December 2020. Resident of Portland Oregon/Palm Desert CA. After a courageous 7-year battle with cancer, John passed away peacefully in Portland. John was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a true Southern Gentleman. While working for a subsidiary of IBM, John was transferred out to Portland Oregon. He later co-Founded a Portland headquartered company named Poorman-Douglas Corporation in 1968. John and his partner Ken Poorman built a professional yet family-oriented data processing business employing over 350 people from their Community. Although a savvy business professional, John’s #1 priority has always been to his family.
He was one of two children born to the late John and Myrtie Douglas and was the beloved husband of Dixie Douglas for over 44 years. John will forever be remembered by his devoted brother Harold, beloved children David (passed away in 1994), Steve (Sue), Craig and Terry Coffey (Peter) and 8 grandchildren.
John touched the lives of many people with his smile and sharing his business knowledge and experiences with so many. Sadly, the family will respect the COVID-19 environment and will not hold a formal Service for John.
