Nielsen, John O. 79 Oct. 06, 1934 Sept. 10, 2014 John Nielsen passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Ukiah, to John Nielsen and Olga Christiansen. John graduated from the University of Oregon in finance in 1970. He retired after working for the state in 1997. He led an active life and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and neighbors. His deep love and affection for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was obvious. He enjoyed hiking, skiing, camping and traveling with his family. He remained in contact with relatives in Denmark. John is survived by his daughters, Sherry Larson, Shirley Ontiveros, Susan Curti and Erin Nielsen; brothers, Jim and Jerry Nielsen; sisters, Betty Jane Anderson and Mary Ann Devore (deceased); 10 grand and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Portland Shriners Hospital for Children, Oregon Food Bank or the Oregon Red Cross. And as he always said, "Keep the Faith."
