A memorial service will be held for John H. Wolf on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 5:00 pm in the chapel at Skyline Memorial Gardens. John passed away on January 20, 2012 in Portland, Oregon at age 91. He was born to Henry A. and Rose (Spencer) Wolf in Portland, the youngest of five children. At a very young age he lost both of his parents. He grew up during the depression. This would shape the rest of his life as a devoted family man and tenacious worker. He attended Chapman Elementary School and Roosevelt High School, graduating in the class of 1940. While in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Anderson #411 during World War II, he met Dorothy Stewart, of Wellington, New Zealand. They married in 1947. He later went on to marry Katherine Swenson in 1969. John started several businesses, including Cedar West Carpets, where he and his son Daryl worked together.
John is preceded in death by his son Daryl, his step daughter Kathy Ling, and his first wife Dorothy. He is survived by his daughters Sherrie Wolf and Kim Wolf, by step daughters Terry Ling and Sandra Normoyle, and by five grand daughters and three great grand children. John will be remembered as a man who genuinely cared for other people and taking care of his family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Our House of Portland.
