

Joseph Wing Lae (Lee) was born April 10, 1925 in the village of Leung Hing in Toisan (Taishan), Kwangtung (Guangdong) Province, China, and passed away on September 20, 2012 at OHSU in Portland.In December of 1930, at the age of five, he disembarked from the S.S. Hikawa Maru with his mother, Chin Sui Ngor and father, Lee Mon Lee; the Lee family lived in Portland’s Chinatown on what is now NW Sixth where the Greyhound Bus station currently stands.Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Marie (Schiefelbein), sons Marcus Lee and Brian (Barbara), daughters Karen and Brenda, grandson Chris (Miranda), great-grandson Toby, sisters Marjorie Lee, PhD. and Joyce Bredemeier, brother Dr. Benjamin (Barbara) Lei, and many nieces, nephews, family members, and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, Sept. 28, at Caldwell’s, Hennessey, Goetsch and McGee Funeral Home at 20 NE 14th Ave. with interment at Riverview Cemetery, both in Portland
