Julie was born in Munich, Germany the second child to Albert Frank and Selma Rosenfeld Frank. Her sister Hansi Jacobi preceded her in death. She grew up in Munich until she immigrated to the US in 1938. At that time she lived in St. Louis with her family and attended the Jewish Hospital where she was trained to be a Registered Nurse graduating in 1940. In 1940 she moved to Portland to be with her soon-to-be husband Lawrence L. Rennett. She had met Lawrence, while on a ski vacation when she was 15 and they developed their relationship via letters over the years. When World War II broke out, Julie married Lawrence in 1941 just before he went overseas with the Army. Julie returned to St. Louis to work as a nurse during the war. At the end of the war in 1945 they reunited in Portland to become life long residents. Survivors include her two children, Elizabeth Hooton and Albert Rennett (daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rennett) grandchildren Kenneth Hooton, Amy Rennett (Kurt Kemp Spouse) Kristin Smidt (Michael Smidt Spouse), and three great-grandsons, Zachary Kemp, William Smidt and Grady Kemp. Julie’s joys in life were her grandchildren, traveling all over the world with Lawrence, entertaining Lawrence’s White Stag/Warnaco business associates. She enjoyed volunteering at Loaves and Fishes and the Portland Art Museum as well as attending the Chamber Music NW and Oregon Symphony. The funeral will be at Willamette National Cemetery June 24th at 9:00 AM. The family would like to thank her caregivers who helped her the last few years.
