

Dr. K.V. Thampan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 15, 2012 in Gladstone, Oregon. Dr. Thampan was married to his wife Susheela Thampan for 50 years. He is survived by two children, Jacob and Jennifer. Dr. Thampan was a teacher, writer and pastor. He committed his life to serving the public good. He has contributed and participated in community services, charitable organizations and activities including establishing “Fast Freight,” a soup kitchen for the homeless and “Helping Hand” organization. He also supported a school for the blind in Southern India. He was president of the Lions Club and member of the Kiwanis Club. He edited and published various books and articles. He received his Doctor of Philosophy from California Graduate School of Theology in Anaheim, California. He received a Masters of Divinity, Missions of the World, Masters of Religious Education, and Christian Education at Western Baptist Seminary in Portland Oregon. He received his Bachelors of Arts in History at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. He also received an Oregon Teacher’s Diploma from the Evangelical Teacher’s Training Association. In India, he studied at South India Biblical Seminary in Bangarapet, Mysore, India.
The wake service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 5 p.m. at Skyline Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home located at 4101 NW Skyline Boulevard, Portland, Oregon 97229. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the same location.
