I first met Karen when I joined Perkins Coie as a paralegal twenty years ago. Karen warmly welcomed me to the firm and taught me all about the role and became a good friend. She was extremely knowledgeable and always patient, thoughtful and calm. I have such fond memories of my time working with Karen, we had a lot of fun. It feels like just yesterday we were sitting together having lunch, I can still clearly picture Karen's smile and hear her lovely twinkly laugh. 
I'm so sad to hear of Karen's passing. My condolences to Norman and to Karen's broader family, I'm truly sorry for your loss. 

I knew Karen late 1999 to 2002, when she was a paralegal at Perkins Coie LLP.  I was her secretary for a brief period during those years.  I'd just returned to Portland from the firm's Seattle office, and was in the process of finding my footing at work and settling into my new life.  I remember Karen as kind, warm and patient; always time for a question and always willing to walk you through a project.  Karen had great plans for her retirement years, and was looking forward to spending time with family and pursuing her love of outdoor activities.  My sincere condolences to all of Karen's family and friends on their loss.
