Kathryn V. Mager, born on June 7, 1937, in Norton, Kansas, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 age of 87. She was the daughter of Werner and Erna Wegener. She was raised in Gresham, and attended Gresham High School.
Kathryn married George L. Mager in Portland, Oregon on May 16, 1958. They had a loving partnership until George's passing May 27, 1991. Kathryn was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Portland, and later became an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Gresham, where she found comfort and strength in her faith. She was an avid supporter of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML). She also volunteered for many years at Fairlawn Health & Rehabilitation in Gresham.
Her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" was a guiding principle throughout her life. She found strength in this verse during both joyous and challenging times.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Ken Mager (Dana) of Troutdale, daughter Kerry Gamelgaard (Chris) of Tigard, grandson Cameron Mager of Troutdale, brother Leonard Wegener of Clackamas, and sisters Anita Vanderhorst (Craig) of Kennewick, WA, and Ronnie Bringle (Jerry) of Spring Hill, FL. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Kathryn's memorial service is Saturday, March 22, at 2:00 pm, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Gresham, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oregon District of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML).
