Lorene grew up in Woodward attending the local schools there. When she was two years old her father passed away. Her mother eventually remarried where Lorene and her sister were adopted by their new father Cleave Brown. On November 26, 1937 she married Wallace William Ludwig in Wichita, Kansas. They had three children and raised them in Portland living there for many years. They moved to Gresham in 1980 where they made their home until they moved to a local retirement center in Portland in 2006. Lorene was a secretary and Sunday School teacher at Evangel Baptist Church for seventeen and a half years. Gardening was something she took pride in, not only her vegetables but in her beautiful rose garden which she spent a great deal of time on. She very much enjoyed sewing, making beautiful clothing for herself her grandchildren and others. Lorene was a wonderful baker and was especially known by her family for her cookies. Bill and Lorene were able to take some beautiful trips together, which included many of the states, Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand just to name a few. Lorene enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a wonderful caretaker of them all when they were younger. She had a big heart for any little children and very much enjoyed their company. Bill and Lorene celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this last year in November which was a wonderful milestone for them. She was a longtime member of Montavilla Baptist Church in Portland. She put all her love and trust in to the Lord. Lorene was very much loved by her family. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by her family. They were all very much blessed by her presence for 96 years.
