Lorraine Miller passed away on September 6, 2014 in Gresham, Oregon, at the age of 87. She was born on September 9, 1926 in Myrtle, Minnesota to parents Alonzo and Hannah Dorothy Mickelson. Lorraine moved to Oregon in 1960 to start a job as the supervisor for the elementary program for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Oregon. In 1963 she met Wilber “Bill” Miller, and the two were married in 1965 in Portland, Oregon.
Always an educator, Lorraine took special interest in genealogy, especially after her retirement. She never missed a holiday or birthday, but always gave gifts that would enrich a child-especially a book. Lorraine enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and grew especially close to her friend Norma Green, who began work with her in 1960. Norma’s family “adopted” Lorraine, and the two have been close ever since.
Lorraine will be missed by her step-sons Terry and Kenny Miller; nephew Kirk Mickelson, niece Kathy Mickelson, niece Keely and Andy Nelson(sons Jens and Kell), nephew Kjel Mickelson, and nephew Kregg Matthew Mickelson, and dear friend Norma Green and family. A memorial service will be held at the Gresham Seventh-day Adventist Church (223 SE Cleveland Ave, Gresham, OR 97080) on Saturday September 13, 2014 at 3pm. Contributions may be made in Lorraine’s name to the Hood View Junior Academy, PO Box 128 Boring, OR 97009. Arrangements under the care of Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
