Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.skylinememorialgardens.com for the Brackett family.
Missionary Lucindia “Cindy” (Clark) Brackett was born in McCrory, Arkansas on Tuesday, February 18th, 1936, to Joseph Lester Clark and Artimes (Clark) Holiday. Lucindia was named after her grandmother. She moved to Cottonplant, Arkansas when she was 11 years old. She moved to Portland, Oregon in 1962 at the age of 26 years old. She married in 1970. She had two children whom she adored: Christopher Allen Brackett, and Noel Stafford Brackett.
Lucindia’s first job in Portland, Oregon was at a nursing home, all her other jobs after that where always in the capacity of taking care of other people. She worked as a domestic for over 27 years and loved the people who employed her. Her most important job was that of being a mother. Lucindia’s hobbies and side gigs included baking and sewing. She made delicious sweet potato pies and 7UP cakes, which were legendary. She also was a hairdresser and was known for her great press and curls.
She loved watching her Christian programs and westerns on TV too. You can be sure she was dialed into something spiritual and uplifting, or Bonanza or Gunsmoke. She donated to the Portland Mission, Christian Broadcasting, and was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Lucindia loved her family, her church family, her friends and the Lord. She was the example of a Christian. Lucindia was loving, nonjudgmental, and she always took the time to listen to others. She was encouraging and she was a beacon to those who needed help along the way. She even took people into her home. Lucindia had a way of lighting up the room with her effervescent smile and spirit. She made you feel special and welcomed in her immaculate home. Always smiling, Lucindia never complained, and she never had a bad word to speak on anyone or anything. Her famous quote was, ‘‘well that is just like having six in one hand and a half dozen in the other.”
Missionary Lucindia Brackett was called home by the Lord early evening on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022. As it is read in the book of Isaiah 40:31 ~ “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not Faint."
“Miss Cindy”, as she was affectionately known, is no longer tired or in any pain. Lucindia is now with her Lord and Savior in heaven where she was preceded in death by her father Joseph, and her mother Artimes.
She is survived by her sisters: Zenobia Green (Arizona), and Geraldine Simpson (Portland). She is also survived by her brothers: Curley Clark, and Joseph Clark (Portland) as well as her brothers Larry Clark (Shirley & children), and Ray Clark (Willie Mae aka ‘Sis’ & children) of Arkansas. Lucindia is beloved and survived by her two sons: Christopher Brackett, and Noel Brackett (Tiffany Hall). Lucindia leaves behind seven grandchildren and one great-grand child. (Christopher’s children): her granddaughters: Tishawna Mullen, Joyceria Brackett. Her grandsons: Asad Brackett, and Tahir Brackett, and Great-Grand son: Dionte Lewis.
