Margaret Marie (Wilke) Olson died peacefully at her home on Thursday January 2, 2020 in Beaverton, Oregon. Margaret was the second of seven children, born to Gottlieb and Ruth (Kuehnert) Wilke in rural Platte County, Nebraska. Margaret was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. She attended Christ Lutheran School and graduated from Kramer High School in 1945, Columbus Nebraska. Soon after High School she left Nebraska and worked for Consolidated Electrical Distributor, Portland OR, in various positions and became an Operations Manager until her retirement in 1997. She traveled a great deal in that position and was a valued employee. Margaret met Raymond, Nebraska native Al Olson in Portland at a boarding house where they both lived. Margaret married the love of her life, Albert E. Olson on February 5, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church in Portland. They were the last couple married at the old church before the new church was built. Margaret and Al had 57 wonderful years together. They enjoyed sailing, time on the Columbia River on the Maggie-O their fishing boat, skiing and traveling. They divided their time between their homes in Beaverton, Bend and Newport Oregon and their winter home in Fountain Hills, Arizona. In her last years she enjoyed her home and scenic yard in Beaverton. Margaret was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed her Guild as well as her church family at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fountain Hills. Margaret was always proud of her Nebraska roots, loved her friends, family and God. She will be remembered as a soft spoken, cheerful, gracious lady. Margaret is survived by her brother Walter and wife Arlene Wilke and sister in-laws Carolyn Wilke, Jan Wilke, Norma Wilke, Ruth (Olson) and husband C.C. Hermance; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Gottlieb and Ruth Wilke, husband Albert E. Olson September 18, 2006, her sister Ruth Ann and husband George Behlen and sister Gretchen and husband Billy Schroeder, her brothers Robert Wilke, Julian Wilke and Theodore Wilke, her nephew James Wilke, her niece Janelle Wilke (infancy) her parents in-law Oscar and Edna Olson, sister in-law Charlotte (Olson) and Bill Willard Ivey, her brother in-laws Dean and wife Linda Olson, Ivan and wife Mary Olson, and Leonard and wife Dorothy Olson. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 13, 2020 10:00am Zion Lutheran Church with private interment at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland Oregon.
