Margot Anaïs Borlant-Guertler, 27, died tragically February 9th, 2022, in Roseburg, Oregon. She was born on June 16, 1994, in Stanford Hospital, California, to her loving parents, William Guertler and Catherine Borlant. She lived most of her life in the City of Roses, Portland, Oregon.
This luminous being was born on her dad's 30th birthday. A true gift! As parents, we will always remember the way Margot knocked on our hearts saying I would like to be born, get to work! So we listened, and we got busy creating this wonderful little girl. So full of wit, with a great sense of humour. When she was a little girl she would sit at the dinner table cracking us up. She was a charmer!
Margot grew up among the peaceful trees and windy roads of Multnomah Village, a small town just 5 minutes south of downtown Portland. As a child she gravitated toward dance and animals, enjoying her time at the zoo as well as dance classes, eventually becoming a ballerina who performed in local renditions of The Nutcracker. After high school, she went on to working at animal hospitals. Those who spent time with Margot knew that despite her struggles with the challenges of life, she was capable of great accomplishments when she set her mind to them.
Many will remember Margot for her appreciation of nature and the outdoors, her love of live music, and affinity for Calvin & Hobbes, The Lord of the Rings, and the countless other books she enjoyed. Her favorite sitcom was The Golden Girls. She adored her dog Carl, and was a dedicated friend to many in the communities that she belonged to. Those who knew her as a small child will remember her vivid imagination and rambunctious laughter.
Margot is remembered by her father, William Guertler, her mother, Catherine Borlant, her brother and his wife, Gabriel and Gisele Borlant-Guertler, her grandparents Henri and Hella Borlant, and her grandmother Magdalena Guertler.
She is also remembered by her cousins: Nathan Guertler, Niki and Aaron Amitoleau, Arthur and Victor Toubol, Atale and Herrade, her uncles and aunts Lilli Guertler, Pierre Toubol, Valentine Borlant and her wife Solene Borlant, as well as so many more family and friends.
A visitation for Margot will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Finley Sunset Hills Mortuary, 6801 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, OR 97225.
Margot’s love for animals extended throughout her life. Margot served as a volunteer and employee of the Oregon Humane Society. Her beloved dog, Carl, and Casper the kitty were both adopted from the Oregon Humane Society. A Go Fund Me has been established in her honor. All money raised will be donated to the Oregon Humane Society.
