

Marilyn Ann Lipp was born in Minnesota to parents John and Helen (Hodgin) Lipp on November 9, 1939. She had one sibling, her sister, Martha. Marilyn’s father was a Colonel the Army in WWII and the family relocated to Europe when Marilyn was very young. She had fond recollections of her time in Europe, especially France. Following the conclusion of WWII, the family moved to Kansas and later to New Mexico. Marilyn graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1957. She attended Arizona State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. Marilyn was a proud member of Kappa Delta Sorority and the National Honor Society.
Following college, Marilyn relocated to California where she taught High School Home Economics. She met Gary Christopherson on a blind date and ten months later, in 1961, they were married. They had two daughters, Donna and Annette.
In 1971, the family moved to the Portland, Oregon area. Marilyn taught Special Education and then was a Substitute Teacher before her retirement. She was widowed in 1983. She lived in Oregon until 1994 at which time she relocated to the Seattle area to live near her daughter Donna and family. The last year of her life, Marilyn lived in Carefree, Arizona near her daughter Annette.
Marilyn participated in many activities and had many interests throughout her life. She liked to cook, sew, and she enjoyed crafting. In her younger years, she was in a bowling league. She liked to attend sports events, especially Winterhawks hockey games. She was a devoted member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church where she was an involved congregation member. She was involved in PTA and was a very involved mother to her two daughters. She enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren and she reveled in watching them grow. She adored all of her puppies and kitties and they loved her back. Marilyn loved to dance and had a great love for music. A highlight of her musical life was a very memorable Barry Manilow concert. She also fancied Elvis and John Denver. Marilyn loved to travel. She visited the Caribbean and Mexico; her favorite destination was Hawaii. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Marilyn is predeceased by her loving husband Gary and her parents John and Helen. She is survived by her daughters Annette Christopherson, Donna Golub (husband Andrew), her sister Martha; and three grandchildren – Kaylah, Natalie, and Katie Golub.
A Funeral Service will take place in Skyline Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 12th at 1pm.
