

Marilyn Eileen Megyesi (nee Pamer) was born on August 16, 1941, in Mansfield, Ohio. Her family moved to Portland, Oregon when she was 11. She graduated from Franklin high school and started nursing school at Emmanuel Hospital in 1959. She met the love of her life, Larry Dennis Megyesi, in church and they were married in October 1961. Marilyn finished nursing school in the same year.
Larry went into the US Army, and they lived in San Antonio, Texas and served with many friends there for 2 years. They moved back to Portland and their first daughter, Jennifer Lynn was born Feb 1964.
Larry and Marilyn felt God leading them to be missionaries in Papua New Guinea in 1965. Marilyn helped start medical services for the Woala people with her childhood friend Janice Staich. Larry served as a carpenter building churches and taught English. During their time in PNG, they had 2 daughters, Carolyn Marie in July 1966 and Patricia JoAnn in December 1969. They considered all their PNG friends to be family.
Returning to Portland in 1970, Marilyn began working at Woodland Park Hospital in Labor and Delivery and later worked at Kaiser in Urology and Neurology, until retirement. Over the years Marilyn and Larry made multiple trips back to PNG. They were active members of the Woodstock Bible Church. Their home was a center of hospitality and love, hosting family, missionaries, young people, and friends from all over the world.
After Larry passed in October 2007, Marilyn continued living in their condo for another 11 years before moving to a retirement living center in 2018 and finally to an assisted living facility in 2021 where she resided until she passed.
Marilyn was a cancer survivor and over the years reached out to many women who also had cancer. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandma, and friend and loved so dearly by everyone who met her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Erna Pamer and her dear husband Larry. She is survived by her 3 daughters: Jennifer (Bob), Carolyn (Jed), and Patricia (Scott), granddaughters: Rebekah, Rachelle, Jordan, Sierra, Emily, and Olivia, and her siblings: Karen, JoAnn, Ruth, Larry, Steve, and Ed.
