

Marjorie Louise Phillips, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, beloved sister, and dear friend, passed away February 21, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 65. Born December 5, 1960, Marjorie lived a life of vibrant spirit, strength, and compassion, always sharing an unwavering love with her family and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Marjorie graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland in 1979, later earning a degree in Independent Studies from Marylhurst University. She dedicated her life to helping families as a social worker, bringing care, understanding, and advocacy to those in need. A passionate advocate for justice and equality, she spoke up for those without a voice, standing firm in her beliefs and tirelessly working for fairness and equitable treatment for all.
Her faith was central to her life, and she lived each day with devotion, gratitude, and love. As a dedicated member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Portland, she joyfully shared her time and talents, nurturing fellowship and community among parishioners.
Marjorie’s life was a testament to resilience, generosity, and joy. She leaves behind a powerful and beautiful legacy through her seven children: Stephanie, Maurisa, Manika, Maurice, Sabrina, Isaiah, and Laura; her stepson, Sherwin; her 23 cherished grandchildren; her siblings Stephanie, Ali, Julie, Marykay, Wendy, and Eric; her uncle Clifford; along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laurel and David Battles; her niece, Akaia; her uncles, Lloyd, and Gavin; her aunties, Sue, and Martha; and her grandparents, Lloyd and Laura Warren.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of her life.
