Mary Lee was raised in Eugene, graduating from Eugene High School and the University of Oregon, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. While at U of O, she was introduced to Warner Wilbur “Bill” Gregg on a blind date, and they were married in a home ceremony in Eugene on September 7, 1952.
During her working years, Mary Lee was a homemaker, community volunteer, and a public librarian, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Broadmoor Women’s Club, Century Club, Delta Gamma Alum breakfast group, the PTA, and several more. Her interests included world travel and cruises, gardening, piano, skiing, camping, and attending her kids’, grandkids’, and great-grandkids’ athletic events and school programs.
Mary Lee always appreciated a good laugh, visits with family and friends, and trips to Sunriver and the beach. She loved to share her garden plantings, especially ones with family history. Her grandchildren knew that “Kings X!” meant “cut it out!” and “Could be” meant the end of the discussion on that topic.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Gregg, daughter Leslie, and great-granddaughter Natali.
She will be remembered and missed by her children Richard Gregg (Fran), Daniel Gregg, and Judith Gregg Kelley (Bob); grandchildren Jason Gregg (Tiffni), Jamie Jones (Jeremy), Will Kelley (Riana), Tyler Kelley, and Meredith Beckman (Brandon); great-grandchildren Nathan, Hailee and Everlee Jones, Mia and Kamryn Gregg, Nora Kelley, Troy Kelley, and Emery Beckman.
At her request, no services will be held, but the family would be grateful for donations in Mary Lee’s name to the Oregon Humane Society, Salvation Army, or Friends of West Slope Community Library.
