

Matt wore many hats in his life both figuratively and literally. Son, scout, scholar, footballer, fighter, drummer, poet, journalist, teacher, social worker, salesman, painter, sailor, contractor, nurse, landlord, realtor, spiritualist, psychic, gardener, author, artist, screenwriter, husband, father, and friend.
He was born October 17th 1942 in Weehawken New Jersey to Marie and Anthony DeGennaro. He grew up an only child as part of a large, vibrant Italian-American family in Hoboken NJ.
Graduating Brown University with a degree in American Literature and English Expression. He later attended NYU where he studied creative writing before moving on to the School of Visual Arts.
He travelled far and wide making his home in numerous cities throughout his life from Seattle to South Florida. Meeting many people and changing many lives along the way.
As a spiritual man, born a catholic and later a member of a metaphysical church, he believed that life continues on after death and life was merely part of the journey.
He painted many pictures, and wrote many stories. He loved Sci-Fi and Adventure. But perhaps, his biggest adventure was always the life he led.
Matthew passed away on March 26th 2022 surrounded by family in his home in Portland OR, following a battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Nancy and leaves behind four children Antony, Matthew, Elissa and Starr. Six grandchildren, Marie, JP, Matthew, Nicholas, Daniel, Abraham and great granddaughter Maya.
