Mrs. Warren was born November 8, 1916 in Prineville, Oregon. She was the oldest of seven children of parents Ethel and Charles Coffman. Maxine was very proud of her American Indian Heritage. Her great grandmother belonged to the major tribe (Onadaga) of the five tribes of the Iroquois Nation. Her father was a lumberjack and the family lived in company housing at various logging camps.
Maxine was given the task of helping with chores and raising her younger siblings in a rather primitive environment. Schooling often meant traveling some miles. Her high school years were spent at Oakridge where the athletic Maxine helped the teams win county titles in basketball and softball. That is where Maxine caught the eye of Myron Warren, a very good athlete himself, who was working for the Federal Government Conservation Project for college- Age Men, the “C.C. C.” (The 3 CS”) They were married June 4, 1934, lived in West Fir for a short time, and then moved to Portland, Oregon where they would raise five children. Over the years, of the same mind and excellence, Myron was in Law Enforcement and Maxine held offices in several Catholic Women Organizations and the Mount Hood Republican Women where she really immersed herself. She held all offices, including President (1986-1989), on committees, legislature, did in-depth studies for presentations, and wrote countless “Letters-To-The-Editor” to the Oregon and especially The Catholic Sentinel. Her husband Myron died in 1998 and daughter Maxine in 2001. Survivors include sons; Myron Warren Jr, (Portland, OR), Fr. Ron Warren (Boring, OR), Charles Warren Sr. (Hillsboro, OR), Daughter; Myra Anderson (Indianola, WA). Also included are 13 Grandchildren and 21 Great-Grandchildren.
