Mayme Irene Fisher passed away peacefully on February 19, 2015 at the age of 97. She was born in the Benson, Minnesota area of Swift County on Oct. 5, 1917 to Earl Knapp and Ella Mabel (Palmateer) Smith. She was the 8th of 9 children. Family was important to her. She always wanted her children and grandchildren to come for Christmas. If she was asked to go on a trip – for a river cruise, to the beach, to Minnesota or out to eat, she never hesitated and was ready to go. She had a passion for Cubs baseball and preferred to watch the games without interruption. Mayme was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters and two sons, Robert and Thomas. She is survived by her children, Roger (Kay) of Portland; Della (Robert) of Buckeye, Arizona; and Carmen of Forest Grove. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. We will all miss her very much.
