

Nadine Yvonne Francis passed away on December 15th, 2014. Nadine was born on March 27th, 1922 to Opal and Walter Korlann. She attended Laurelhurst grade school and Grant high school. Nadine and her beloved sister, Janis, shared a wonderful childhood and family life in Portland.
Nadine met the one and only love of her life, Don, in her early years at Grant. She followed Don to Oregon State College (University) after his freshman year. Nadine joined Kappa Alpha Theta sorority where she formed many of her life long friends. Don and Nadine were married in Portland on Christmas Eve 1942. They shared a long and deep love affair, which was celebrated by their 70th anniversary shortly before Don’s passing in February of 2013.
Nadine was a master seamstress and knitter. She made all types of clothing, blankets, quilts and beautiful baby items. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed many types of crafts and loved decorating.
Nadine and Don were active lovers of the outdoors and sports, passions they passed on to the following generations. They were avid snow skiers, enjoying many years skiing in areas throughout the NW and had a vacation home in Bend where they had many great ski buddies. Nadine skied well into her seventies. They also vacationed in Maui and had a special group of “Maui regulars” who were dear to them. Nadine was an excellent golfer and was a member at Riverside Golf & Country Club for over 40 years. They also loved the Oregon coast where they had property and would enjoy summer days in their trailer. They would use the same trailer to travel to Idaho in the fall so Don could go bird hunting while Nadine would knit, sew and work on various crafts.
Nadine is survived by her 4 children: sons; Peter Donald (Kathy), Richard Walter (Beverly); Kenneth Paul (Barbara); daughter, Carol Jean Golden (Lonell); 12 grandchildren; eight great-grand-children; two great-great grandchildren and one deceased grandchild, Michelle Golden.
The family will celebrate Nadine’s life privately.
