The Dimery family later moved to Kerrville, Texas. Nancy finished her high school education and graduated in California where she also married Andrew Jenkins; from that union their son Forrest was born.
In the early 1950’s, Nancy and her beloved mother, Julia moved to Portland, Oregon where she raised Forrest and where Nancy and her mother affectionately took care of one another.
Nancy later married Elwin Wright and in that union is where Nancy’s excitement awakened and where she began experiencing the ventures of life. They were happily married until his passing.
Nancy worked for the Veterans Administration where she retired after many years of service.
Nancy sincerely loved her family. She hosted a many of family gatherings and it brought her so much joy seeing everyone come together. In essence she was a catalyst for family staying connected and in love. She was known for her love of games and puzzles. She would play dominoes for hours. She absolutely adored her grandchildren. They really were the apple of her eye and she made sure they all knew this. She loved her son with her whole heart and she remained committed to being his greatest fan.
On June 16, 2019, God called Nancy home to now be with loved ones that have preceded her in death: her husband, Elwin Wright; and her parents, sisters and brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Forrest Jenkins of Portland, OR; sister, Lotte Jean Merritt of Vancouver, WA; granddaughters, Mary Jenkins of Mesa, AZ, Florence Jenkins of Gresham, OR, Nancy Jenkins of Vancouver, WA, Christina Jenkins of Portland, OR, and Karelyn Kelley of Houston, TX; grandson, Forrest Jenkins Jr., of Houston, TX; six great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
