

Nicholas Anthony Gallicchio, 85, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013, at 7:10 am, at West Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Portland, OR. Nicholas is now resting peacefully in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
Nicholas was born on July 14, 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut to Anna (Triumfo) and Antonio Gallicchio. Nick grew up in the Morris Cove neighborhood of New Haven and graduated from New Haven High School in 1946. Just weeks after finishing high school, Nicholas won the Italian Lottery and with his winnings he made his way to Southern California.
Nick landed in Los Angeles, CA and found a job at Sears and Roebuck. In the summer of 1949; Nick met his future wife Marie Connelly, through a colleague at Sears. And on February 11, 1950, Nick married Marie, and together they raised two daughters in Culver City, CA.
In 1955, Nick started a new career with General Telephone. For the next 32 years he spent his time advancing through the ranks of the Supply and Transportation Departments. While working at General Telephone, Nick discovered a new hobby and passion, Real Estate Sales. In 1960, he got his Real Estate License and in 1975, he became a Real Estate Broker and opened his first Real Estate office in Culver City, CA.
Upon retirement from General Telephone, Nick moved to Rockaway Beach, OR. For the next 20 years Nick was a familiar face in the Oregon Coast Real Estate business and had several different Real Estate offices scattered throughout the Oregon Coastal communities.
During his 47 year real estate career, Nick has happily helped place two generations of Californians and Oregonians in their much cherished homes.
Nick was loved by all and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Neil Cullen of Thousand Oaks, CA, Patti and Dean Tohl of Tillamook, OR; his two grandsons Tim and Mike Cullen of Thousand Oaks, CA and his sister, Marion Prisco of North Haven, CT. Nick was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Guadagno of North Hills, CA and his brothers Dominick Gallicchio of North Haven, CT, Gerald Gallicchio of East Haven, CT and Joseph Gallicchio of East Haven, CT.
For his Portland Friends: Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 7007 SW 46th Ave Portland, OR. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
For his Rockaway Beach Friends: Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s by the Sea Catholic Church, 275 S. Pacific St Rockaway Beach, OR. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
Nicholas’ ashes will be scattered in the sea and his final resting place will be west of his beloved Rockaway Beach home.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Nick’s memory to the West Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, 5701 SW Multnomah Blvd Portland, OR 97219.
