Odd Gunnulf Jensen was born in Langenes, Norway on August 14, 1932 to parents Otto and Gunda Jensen. He was raised in Langenes. After completing his High-School education, at the age of 19, he traveled to the United States to live in Bend, Oregon for a year in 1951. He returned to Norway in 1952 to serve in the Norwegian Armed Forces. He exchanged wedding vows with Margit Pedersen on May 30, 1953 in Venset, Norway. On March 25, 1959, Odd, Margit, and their new family immigrated to the United States and began a new chapter of their lives in Portland, Oregon. Odd went to work for Multnomah Plywood located in Downtown Portland. In 1966, the family relocated to Seattle, Washington and Odd went to work for Nelson Ironworks where he served as a machinist. In 1972, the family came back Portland, Oregon and Odd resumed employment with Multnomah Plywood (which was relocated St. Helens, Oregon in 1966) as a plywood worker. He retired in 1992.
Odd was a person who always had to stay moving and being active. He enjoyed tinkering around his home, building, and carpentry. He loved accordion music, polka (Frankie Yancovic was a favorite accordionist as well as his long time friend Kaare Nielsen), and he loved to dance. Every Saturday night for 40 years, Odd went out dancing. He enjoyed Sunday drives, sightseeing, and just spending time with his loving wife Margit and his family. He was a curent member of North Portland Eagles and had been a member of Sons of Norway.
He is predeceased (after 50 years of marriage) by his loving wife Margit (2003) and his parents Otto and Gunda Jensen, and was the last surviving sibling. Odd is survived by his sons Gudmund (Columbia City, Or.) and Magne (Portland, Or.); daughters Irene Frilot (Portland, Or.) and Mona Horne (Tigard, Or.); a sister, Gloria Markwardt; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and his close companion of 7 years Maxine Gregory.
