Olga Elizabeth was the 12th child born to Albert and Mary Gollnick in Harvey, N.D., July 6, 1933. She passed peacefully away in her home Dec. 10, 2020, at age 87. The Gollnick family moved to Portland, in October of 1941. She attended Immaculate Heart Grade School and Immaculata High School, graduating in 1951. That year, she met her future husband, Walter, and they married in August of 1952. In 1953, Walter Steven made them a family of three. Theresa, Diane and Brian completed their family.
Despite suffering two bouts of breast cancer (and winning both times), Olga never lost her lively energy and cheerful demeanor. She loved one and all, and many viewed her as their second mom. Olga was the principal’s secretary at Reynolds High School for 19 years, and enjoyed working with the faculty and students.
She roared with pride for the San Francisco 49ers, and she’d loved them since the days she listened to them on the radio in the 1940’s. She enjoyed trips to Reno, Vegas and Spirit Mountain. Her many travels took her to Hawaii, N.D. and Germany. She was fiercely proud of her German heritage, and was always on the lookout for angels as well as Matthew McConaughey.
She was welcomed into eternal life by her parents; her 13 brothers and sisters; her husband; and her daughter, Theresa. She is survived, and sorely missed by, her children, Steve (Laurie), Diane (Neil) and Brian; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Katy, Robby and Brendan. A Private interment will be held at Mt. Calvary. A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
