

Orville Carl Waldo, 81, was born on January 7, 1935 to Charles and Inez (Kasell) Waldo in Henning, Minnesota. He passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at home in Portland. Orville was the oldest of 15 children. He attended Kellogg Grade School and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in 1953.
Orville joined the Marine Reserves before he graduated from High School. When jobs were hard to find, he decided to complete his service requirement full time. He entered boot camp in the fall and was sent to Korea when boot camp was over.
When he was home on leave, he married Leta May Jarrett on April 9, 1955. Then he headed back down to Camp Pendleton. His Marine service ended in the fall of 1955.
Orville worked for several places before settling in at Freightliner Truck and Manufacturing Plant in 1962. Orville started as a mechanic and worked in several different areas before becoming a Quality Assurance Inspector and then Supervisor. He was there for almost 30 years, retiring in 1991.
Orville was a lifetime member of the Good Sam Club for camping and outdoor activities Leta and Orville were members of the Country Capers, a square dance club in SE Portland for many years. Orville bowled at 20th Century Lanes with Mom and Freightliner co-workers on a league and was adamant about keeping the statistics straight. He enjoyed fishing, fly fishing, softball, working on the cars and trucks and roller skating.
Orville is survived by Leta, his wife of 61 years. Daughters - Charlotte (John) Sharkey and Carol Waldo. Five Grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Orville was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Robert. His remaining siblings are Kenneth (Janice), Luella (Harry) Loutzenheiser, Lois (Dave) Merz, sister-in-law JoAnn, Lee, Marilyn (Larry) Justice, Virginia Waldo, Katherine (Paul) Johnson, Pearl Lucero, Clayton, Paul (Mary) , Vera (Dale) Williams and Esther (Bill) Parks. And many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Orville's life will be held at 2:30pm, Friday November 25, 2016 at Tremont Evangelical Church - 7115 SE Woodstock, Portland, Oregon with a potluck to follow.
