She attended Sacred Heart Academy before the family moved to Pendleton, where Patti graduated from Pendleton High School in 1967. Patti married Robert F. Cook, Jr., in 1968, and lived in La Grande, where she attended Eastern Oregon College. The family moved to Portland in 1971.
A single mom in 1972, Patti worked her way through Portland State University, earning her Teaching certificate in 1976. She worked for the Beaverton School District for many years as an English teacher and counselor at Meadow Park Junior High and Sunset High School. Patti was a lifelong student and teacher, earning a Master of Art in Counseling/Psychology from Lewis & Clark College in 1994.
A mutual friend introduced Patti to the love of her life, David Lauren Ramsey, and they married July 14, 1979. After Dave’s death in 2003, Patti joined the family business and was CEO of United Pipe & Supply Co., Inc., a wholesale distribution company. She was a member of Waverley Country Club, Arlington Club, and the Multnomah Athletic Club.
Patti loved treating her daughters and granddaughters to burgers and malts at Skyline Burger; taking annual trips to Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival; playing the piano and singing with her family Christmas Eve; and tucking in on Sunday night with Masterpiece Theatre. Her family and friends remember her kindness, compassion, positive outlook, toughness, and beautiful smile. She is an inspiration.
