Patsy Ogden passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early hours of 2023. She was born in August of 1937 in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Nathan and Bessie Ogden, and the younger sister of devoted brother Bobby. The family later moved to the Vanport community of Portland, Oregon where her father worked in the Kaiser shipyards. The family later moved to the St Johns neighborhood where Patsy spent her formative years and resided in adulthood. She attended Roosevelt High School, and upon graduation went to work for the phone company, where she held various positions over the course of her career. Later in life Patsy discovered the joy of volunteering at the Assistance League of Greater Portland.
Those that knew Patsy best would be quick to tell you that she was a loyal friend and a faithful daughter, sister and aunt. In retirement she invited her parents to move into her home, where she lovingly cared for them until each passed. A visit to the house on Exeter Street in the St Johns neighborhood would be greeted with a warm smile & hug, baked goods or a snack of Chex Mix, and a warm spot on the “daveno” for some nice conversation. Patsy enjoyed travels with good friends to the warm climates of Hawaii, and cruises to Mexico. She had a love of gambling with incredible luck and was often the grand prize winner of raffles & contests. She was a thoughtful woman who never missed a birthday, enjoyed special occasions, and loved the holidays where she was known to wear a festive themed sweater. She cherished her many friendships with long time schoolmates, friends, neighbors and the ladies of the Assistance League. Patsy also enjoyed many years with her beloved pup Tippy. Preceded in death by her parents and brother Bobby, she is survived and adored by many generations of nieces and nephews.
Please join us as we celebrate together Patsy’s life on Friday, February 3rd for an open house from 1pm to 4pm at St John's Bachelor Club. 8204 N Central St. Portland, OR 97203
