September 3, 1952 – March 15, 2024
Paul, age 71, passed away at home after experiencing a medical emergency on March 15, 2024.
Paul was the first-born son of Roy and Lorrayne Williams, with younger brothers Todd and Del. He graduated from Parkrose High School in 1970 and attended Mt. Hood Community College. Early on, he earned his welding certificate and also a DEQ license for underground oil tank installation, soil testing, remediation, and decommissioning. In his early career, he traveled all over Oregon and Washington doing this type of work for other companies and then he started his own business. With his own business, he built gas stations, from the ground up, in Portland, Beaverton, and Salem. He also built and remodeled homes. Paul was undaunted by the technical difficulties of any project. He enjoyed working on complicated projects, the more unusual the better.
Most recently, Paul volunteered with the Portland Rifle and Pistol Club putting his many skills and years of experience to use in facilities management, maintaining the building, and organizing new projects to upgrade the building. He enjoyed his time at the Club where he liked to chat with other members and work on new projects. He spoke highly of the many volunteers who worked hard to keep the place running.
In his earlier years, Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping and he liked to bow hunt in the Eagle Cap Wilderness in the Wallowas. However, his very favorite activity of all was working on cars with his son, Mark.
Paul married Julie in September 1981 and they shared 42+ years together. Their much-beloved son, Mark, the light of their life together, was born in September 1991. So many happy memories of family adventures together.
Paul is survived by wife Julie, son Mark, brother Todd, nephew Cory, numerous cousins and their families, and many good friends, some of whom Paul had known for decades.
Our beloved husband and father, Paul, had a wonderful sense of humor, was a people magnet, and a dog lover. He felt it was his obligation to help others and volunteer in his community. He believed it was his duty to give back, and he never hesitated to help. He loved his family and took good care of his family. We loved him with all our hearts and miss him dearly.
Paul was the type of person who made the world a better place just by being who he was.
Paul will be sorely missed but will live on in our hearts forever. Paul's family and friends will treasure their memories of him and the significant impact he made on their lives. The family requests that you share those memories or a story of Paul below.
