Born in October 1946, just 77, Phil Borgia took his final rest on April 23rd of 2024 in the comfort of his Oregon home where he longed to be. A four-time cancer survivor who struggled with regulative blood pressure prior to suffering a mild stroke in late February of the same year. While mentally undaunted by his ailing condition, his physical body simply could not keep up with his will to continue. “I’ve got shit to do!” was his continued dogma, despite having resolved a good deal of the challenges life brought forth; to the satisfaction of all those who loved him.
Phil’s charisma was matched only by his sincerity that blessed him with countless associations and devoted friends. He will be remembered as a successful father who always honored his son; an entertainer who always made time for his guests; a trusted mechanic who always put the customer first; an artist who always strived to create something for another; an engineer who always sought to provide a solution; an architect whose designs would provide wonder; a landscaper who would change the way we see our environment; and a sportsman whose ultimate handicap was to lay down his club.
His selflessness continued to the end as he remained concerned with the struggles of his loved ones; tired but still trying to find resolution for us. “Rest well Phil, we’re good!”
He is survived by his only son who will miss him a great deal in this life. His wife of 57 years now healed and living peacefully. His confidant who toured a great many of his adventurers. His sister, the cornerstone of the family and his brother rekindled.
In remembrance : while stationed in Hawaii a blind date would become his wife; years of good living as a loving neighbor to the James Coy Martin family, his in-laws; a hand built HO scale train that took ¼ the garage; countless Oregon Coast excursions; fabricating the first Jaguar Limousine; Sweet Tibbie Dunbar; Earthquake Ethels; Chelsea Audio/Video; a mint 1970 XKE and numerous custom cars; Cannon Beach House; an electric Hot Rod for his son; Coka’cola and Barbeque chips in the front yard; Europe travel; Cats in the Cradle; The Sword of Fargoal; Halloween displays acknowledged annually by friends, family and the Tigard Times; hand crafted Ravioli with his Grandmother; a 1963 Impala he fully restored and dedicate; the home he architected for family on Bobwhite; Italian festivals in Beaverton; multiple house remodels and repeated Home Depot runs; the Tillicum; California communal; Landscaping; rekindled relations with family and friends; Road rage and Cheesecake; reading mostly fantasy and mostly about Drizzt; Game of Thrones nights and The Borgia’s evening; neighborhood gatherings; Spinach, Macaroni and Cheese with Beer Sausage; Onion Dip and excuses; tinkering on his BMW; a tapestry of obscenities along side an innate ability to learn/do anything he set his mind to; Halloween in Heaven; Pope Borgia; Spiced Rum and good conversation; forehead massages, both offered and received… but mostly received.
