Rayola always spoke with fondness about her childhood, her parents, and her grandmother’s farm in Michigan. She was a 1962 graduate of Grant High School in Portland. She also received further education at Western University of Business beginning in 1963. She met her great love Richard J. Cude on the Fourth of July, 1960 at Seaside, Oregon, and they were married on January 8, 1967 in Jefferson, Oregon.
Mrs. Cude worked as an office manager and customer service representative in the administrative healthcare field, as well as her duties as a homemaker, school volunteer, and active PTA member. Rayola was an avid flower gardener, especially dahlias. She enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles, listening to jazz, watching basketball, and especially supporting her children and grandchildren in their sports and hobbies – she was one of their biggest fans! Known amongst family and friends for her kindness and resilient spirit, her eyes twinkled as she smiled at you. Her warm hugs conveyed how close she held you to her heart.
She and Richard built a beautiful family, welcoming children David and Karen into their lives. While she and Richard later separated due to the hardships of life, they remained close. Rayola built special friendships during her time in Parents Without Partners. She lovingly nurtured her flower garden and enjoyed special times with family and friends. She was over the moon to welcome her grandsons Logan and Jayden into her life, and they filled her with joy and purpose as she aged.
Rayola was a caring, dedicated, genuine mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend to all who had the privilege and joy to know her. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter Karen, Karen’s husband John, and grandchildren Logan and Jayden.
