Ruby attended school in Little Rock, Arkansas, and joined many memberships at an early age. She belonged to the Faith Tabernacle, later moved to Grace Covenant Church. She enjoyed participating in community services, such as the Oregon Food Bank and the Life Center to help provide food and clothing to those in need. Ruby spent her days playing bingo and card games, but particularly had a deep love for fishing. Her family stated “If there was a fish to be caught, she would have caught it!” Along with being on a riverbank fishing, her family reminisces about her being in the kitchen making food. She will always be remembered as being a good person, raising her family the right way, and being a good parent and friend.
Ruby had met her husband, Edgar Garner out at the Cotton Club, before they both were joined with the Lord. They were later married in Vancouver, Washington in 1970. She is survived by her daughter, Carylon McDonald, sons, Raymond Howard, William Howard, David Garner, Tomaray Garner, and her kids that she gained when her and Edgar got married; Nora Thomas, Pat Garner, Danny Garner, Elbert Garner, and Butch Garner.
Ruby was preded in death by her husband, Edgar Garner, Mother, Stella Allen, and Father, Lester Gilmore.
