Russell William Leinbach, a loving family man, cherished friend, and retired U.S. Navy Construction Mechanic Chief, passed away on December 23, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on September 19, 1959, in Portland, Oregon, Russ spent his life rooted in service, laughter, and deep devotion to those he loved. He was a proud resident of West Linn, Oregon.
Russ proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief and earning the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him. Known as a funny, larger-than-life, and deeply respected Navy Chief, he embodied the spirit of leadership, loyalty, and camaraderie that defines the Chief’s Mess. His humor, mentorship, and unwavering commitment left a lasting impression on countless service men and women.
Following his military career, Russ continued to serve his community through entrepreneurship, founding Russ’s Auto Shop, where his mechanical skill, strong work ethic, and genuine care for people were evident in everything he did. Whether under the hood of a car or lending a helping hand, Russ was always ready to help.
Above all, Russ’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted and loving father to his four daughters—Jamie, Shannon, Sarita, and Sabrina—each of whom he adored beyond measure. He was also a proud and devoted grandfather to nine grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness and purpose. Russ’s life was enriched by family time, laughter, and the deep bonds he shared with those closest to him.
Russell had a deep love for the Green Bay Packers, time spent at the beach, and the simple joys of life—especially moments shared with his two beloved beagles, Liza and Honey Bee, who were never far from his side.
Russell William Leinbach will be laid to rest at Skyline Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Portland. His uplifting spirit, infectious humor, steadfast leadership, and boundless love for his family will be remembered always by all who had the honor of knowing him.
