Ruthie Bea Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unforgettable joy. Known as the life of the party, Ruthie’s vibrant spirit and infectious laughter could light up any room. She lived her life fully, embracing every moment with energy, warmth, and an unmistakable sense of fun.
Ruthie was born on October 18, 1957, in Indianola, Mississippi, to Lorraine Williams. At the time of her birth, her mother was determined to build a better life for herself and her family. When Ruthie was just one year old, Lorraine was given the opportunity to move to Washington State, where Ruthie was raised until the age of 13.
Ruthie later attended Adams High School in Portland, Oregon, where she built lasting friendships and developed the strength and independence that would carry her throughout her life. Though her path was not without challenges, Ruthie faced a difficult upbringing but never allowed her past to define her future. Instead, she turned her experiences into strength, dedicating her life to ensuring her children would never endure the hardships she once faced. Her love for her family was fierce, unwavering, and deeply rooted in her desire to give them a better life.
Ruthie was the devoted mother of two children, Michael “Majick” Davis and LaToya A. Williams, whom she raised with care, humor, and determination. She was also a loving grandmother and great-grandmother who found immense joy in her family, cherishing every moment spent with them—including her final moments. Her home was not only a place of comfort for her own family but also a safe haven for many neighborhood children, earning her the loving title of “Mama Ruthie.”
Ruthie worked as a papergirl and later as a Print Coordinator for The Oregonian for 10 years, demonstrating her strong work ethic and dedication. She also served as a caregiver, earning her Oregon Home Care Certification in Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques. In both roles, Ruthie poured her heart into caring for others. As a Print Coordinator, she ensured daily operations ran smoothly, showing reliability and pride in her work. As a caregiver, she brought comfort, patience, and genuine compassion to those she served, offering not just assistance but companionship and peace of mind. Ruthie had a natural gift for connecting with people—she made everyone feel seen, welcomed, and valued.
Ruthie was deeply supported by her mother, Lorraine, whose love and guidance helped her navigate life and raise her children. That bond was a cornerstone of Ruthie’s journey and played a significant role in shaping the woman she became.
