Stanley Thomas Simich

22 mayo, 1930 – 31 marzo, 2026
Obituario de Stanley Thomas Simich
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Ross Hollywood Chapel

Stanley Thomas Simich was born May 22, 1930, and passed away March 31, 2026, at the age of 95. A loyal, patient, thoughtful, handsome man with integrity, Stan was a wonderful father, that cherished his family and faithful in the ways that mattered most. He lived in Vancouver Washington, and held close the people and principles that shaped his life.

Born and raised in Portland, Stan attended Central Catholic High School before going on to Santa Clara University on a football scholarship, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. After college, Stan served in the Army before he started his career at Blitz Weinhard in sales and moving into the position of Vice President in charge of marketing until he retired. In retirement Stan purchased Smead’s Tavern in Washougal where he continued to serve the community great food, beer and conversation. He did what needed to be done, and he did it faithfully—never seeking attention, simply living out his values.

At the center of Stan’s life was his marriage to his wife, Shirley Werner. Married for 66 years, their life together was marked by devotion and enduring partnership. Stan was a devoted husband and a wonderful father to five children. Stan was proceeded in death by his son Steve and daughter Mary. Stan is survived by Mike (Sally), Jane and Joe (Eleni). He was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His love for family was constant, steady, and unmistakable.

Stan enjoyed sports. He attended Santa Clara University on a football scholarship and played in the first Oregon Shrine All- Star football game in 1948! Stan and Shirley enjoyed being season ticket holders for the Blazers for 25 years and got to experience the only Championship season that the Blazers hold. Throughout his life Stan continued his love for racquetball up until he was 90 years old often beating players that were half his age. His love for golf is part of his legacy passed down to his sons and his grandchildren. For the last ten years his grandsons have held a golf tournament in honor of him called the “Stanley Cup”. Whether watching a game or spending time outside, he found contentment in the everyday moments that so often become the most meaningful.

More than anything, Stan valued family and faith. He leaves behind a legacy of steadiness, kindness, and quiet example—showing those around him what it looks like to live with patience, loyalty, and integrity.

With deep gratitude and love, his family says thank you for being the best father a child could ask for, and for being a devoted husband—faithful, thoughtful, and always there.
