

Stuart Wesley Miller “Dad” was born in Milford, Iowa on July 24, 1926 and passed away peacefully in St. Johns, Oregon on August 21, 2014 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his beloved twin brother, James, and beloved daughter, Karen. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, remaining eight children and their mother, Patricia; 28 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, uncle of three, great uncle of six, great-great uncle of seven, and great-great-great uncle of one. Stuart, a book learned intellectual, is a veteran of World War II serving as a Merchant Marine and later a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He enjoyed an engaging conversation, the “great outdoors,” mountaineering, hiking, and ocean visits with the family. Stuart retired after 25 years as a Master Electrician from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1974. Dad raised his family primarily in Olalla, Washington and after retiring, moved to St. Johns Oregon a block away from Roosevelt High School, where he graduated. Dad participated in the rescue evacuation during the Vanport Oregon Flood on Memorial Day in 1948. His relaxed, quiet demeanor and comforting style will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services will be held at Lincoln Memorial, Thursday August 28 at 9:30 AM with Viewing on Wednesday August 27 from 4:00-5:00 PM. The Family and Friends Gathering shall follow graveside services at Motel 6, 12855 SE 97th Ave, Clackamas OR from 11 AM to 5 PM.
