Summer Latisha Johnson; age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 10, 2023 in Portland, Oregon. Summer was born May 29, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan to Lenard Thompson and Camille Johnson. After graduating from high school, Summer moved to Portland, Oregon in the mid 90’s.
Summer was a beautiful compassionate young soul. She had such an awe-inspiring and breathtaking voice. She lived through music and her beauty would come through while playing her multiple musical instruments. She would often host dance parties with her kids where they would all sing and dance along to the new released songs in her living room.
The best part of Summer was when she would take your name or anything she thought of and turn it into a silly song. She would often break out in laughter after she sang the songs she made up. Her laughter would shine long afterwards. Summer was very intelligent, inquisitive and sharp. She would often talk your ear off about her love of the law. Her favorite thing to watch on the television were the multiple crime shows. She had a dream to go to college one day and become a lawyer; however, she loved her children more and dedicated her life to her children and remained at home to raise them.
Summer dedicated much of her life being a young mother and caring for both her grandmother and her own mother. She often spent time with her family and always was there when you needed her. She enjoyed going to church and reading the Bible. Every time you saw her, she was wearing a beautiful bright colored outfit. Often times you could even catch her with a flower tucked in her hair and a big bright smile on her face.
Like all of us, she faced turmoil when life threw curve balls. Summer would always find a way to make a joke and put a smile on everyone’s face even during her struggles. She loved to joke and play practical jokes on everyone. She was always the life of the party. When Summer’s children were younger; she loved the outdoors and would often go to the local parks and have picnics. One of her favorite pastimes was walking to the local truck stop; Jubitz, to watch the latest movies they were showing.
Summer is survived by her brother Lamont Johnson, sons Xaire Johnson, Marc Renfroe, Christopher Durrett and Gaberial Durrett and daughter Autumn Durrett.
