

W. Dale Lockart, 76, died in Portland, with his family by his side. A viewing will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in Ross Hollywood Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, in Grace Lutheran Church, with refreshments to follow. The interment is private. Born in Kirby, Pa., to George Lockart and Dorthea Haines, his sister was Mazie Watkins. His father died when he was young, and Jack Barron was a loving stepfather. Dale served in the U.S. Air Force for four years; two of those years were spent in Korea. He enjoyed being a master gardener and working in his greenhouse, golfing with family and friends, and had a passion for classic cars and music. Dale had a knack for telling long jokes which would get longer each time he told them. He also enjoyed making stained glass and cooking. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Cheri; daughters, Shauna DeLaMare and Nicole Lockart; and grandchildren, Jeffery and Claire DeLaMare. Dale was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OHSU Knight Cancer Center, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97239-3098.
