Wesley F. Johnson

Wes graduated from the college of Idaho and in 1947 married Ruth Aikman of Caldwell. He began his teaching career in Homedale, Idaho, continuing to Parma and Caldwell, Idaho., and on to Sweet Home, Oregon, retiring from Parkrose High School in 1981. He received his Master’s Degree from Portland State. He taught Social Studies and coached football, track, and basketball.

During WWII he was a member of the 10th Mountain Division and was wounded in Northern Italy.

He joined the 104th Reserve in Vancouver. He retired as a Command Sgt. Major.

He served on the Session of his Presbyterian Church in Parkrose.

He is survived by his wife Ruth; daughters Ann and Kris; and son Ron; with sons-in-law Rob and Ed; daughter-in-law Mary Lou; and five grandchildren: Alex, Allison, Katherine, Maureen, and Mike.

A Celebration of Wes’ life will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 11:00am at Parkrose Community Church of Christ in Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wes’ honor to The Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland, OR and www.oregonhumane.org.
