B.J. Richards, 53, of West Stockholm, NY, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2026 at his beloved family farm. BJ was born to the late Clarence and Ann (Robinson) Richards on February 20, 1972, in Potsdam, NY.

B.J. married Lisa M. Barkley on February 14, 2017 at the family farm in West Stockholm. Together they have three beautiful girls: Chloie, 11, Mia, 9, and Maddilynn, 8. He also has two stepdaughters, Natacha (Paul) Taylor and Hillary Trimm and four grandchildren: Tanner Barkley, 19, and Kowen, 13, Bryson, 10, and Jackson Taylor, 2 months.

B.J. spent his entire life at the place he loved the most, his family farm in West Stockholm. After working side by side with his father all throughout his childhood, B.J. eventually took over the dairy farm when his father retired. B.J. loved the peace and solitude that the farm offered. After a few years, he switched from dairy cows to his next adventure of raising beef cattle. In 2005, he began working for the Town of Stockholm as a motor vehicle operator. After he retired in 2024, he continued raising beef cattle and sharing his love of the farm with his three daughters.

B.J. is also survived by two sisters Trish (Tracy) Richards of California and Tillie (Dale) Breault of Chateaugay, NY, and two nephews Samuel, 19, and Charlie, 18.

Calling hours will be held at the Garner Funeral Service on Monday, February 16th from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Garner Funeral Service on Tuesday, the 17th at 11 am.
