Death does not always come with warning, with time to say the sad farewells. Sometimes it comes unannounced with no time for even a brief goodbye.
Dan grew up in Potsdam on Route 56 with his mother and father Jo Ann and James Adams along with his sister and brother, Kim and Jeff on a small farm. Outback of the house was a swamp that would freeze over in the winter. Dan would shovel for hours so he could follow his passion of hockey. He would be out there until mom sent Kim and Jeff out to pull him off the ice. That love of hockey stayed with him his whole life, being a member of the Sandstoners’ and with him organizing The Northern Hockey League and also being an avid Boston Bruins Fan.
Dan attended and graduated from Potsdam in 1987 meeting many friends along the way that remained his friends to his very last day. He then went on to further obtain his associated degree from SUNY Canton.
Dan was a simple man that enjoyed giving rather than receiving. He was a very hard working man that worked many long hard hours as a laborer at Alcoa for 24 yrs. providing his children the opportunities to precede with their goals and dreams.
Dan is survived by his mother and step father Jo Ann Adams and Boyden Stark; two boys that he was so proud of Tyler James and Seth Daniel ; a sister Kim and Mark Markiewicz and a brother Jeff Adams. Predeceasing Dan were his father James and a daughter he loved so dearly and lost so early Kaysea.
Contributions to the Potsdam Minor Hockey Association would be what Dan would be grateful for; fulfilling the less fortunate youth’s appreciation of the sport. Online condolences can be made at www.garnerfh.com.
