Mr. David M. Dominy, age 55 of Canton, NY passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, August 9th at 10 am at St. Patrick’s Church in Colton, NY. Burial will follow the service at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Colton, NY. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 8th from 4-7.
David is survived by his parents Henry and Carole Dominy; his brothers Jeffrey (Cheryl) Dominy, Henry “Doug” Dominy and companion Fiona Hopkins, Robert (Noelle) Dominy, sister-in-law Sarahlyn Dominy and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Gary Dominy.
David was born on July 8, 1963 in Ogdensburg, NY to Henry and Carole Aldous Dominy. He was a 1981 graduate of Colton Pierrepont Central School and then graduated from Canton ATC in 1983 with a degree in electrical tech. He went to work for Thomas Drafting in Ithaca, NY for a year and then was hired by Niagara Mohawk as a lineman in Syracuse, NY in 1985. He remained in the Syracuse area until he transferred back to the North Country in 1989. He remained with Niagara Mohawk and now National Grid for 33 years retiring on August 1, 2018.
David loved the outdoors. He really enjoyed hunting and fishing. Earlier in life he liked riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a member of the Gulfbrook Hunting Club for years and also enjoyed spending time at the family hunting camp in Winthrop.
