

Mr. Harold W. Hunter, age 84 of West Stockholm, NY passed away on Saturday, April 04, 2015 at his residence in the town of Stockholm while under the care of his family and The Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Funeral services for Harold will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 11am with Rev. James Barnes II at the Garner Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the spring at the West Stockholm Cemetery. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley or to the West Stockholm Volunteer Fire Department.
Harold is survived by his wife of 58 years Mrs. Phyllis Hunter; his son Jeffrey (Patty) Hunter all of West Stockholm; sister Margaret Gary of Potsdam; granddaughters Jessica Hunter and her fiancée Tom Donnelly of Canton and Jill (Larry) Rheaume of West Stockholm. Harold is predeceased by a son James Rocky Hunter.
Mr. Harold W. Hunter was born August 15, 1930 in Norfolk, NY to the late Silas and Maude Gray Hunter. He attended Potsdam Schools. On June 7, 1957 at the Methodist Church in Colton, NY he was married to Phyllis Rockwell. Harold ran a farm for a few years and then in 1954 he went to work at Potsdam Central School as a bus driver. He then became Senior Custodian at the Lawrence Avenue Elementary School where he remained until his retirement in 1977.
Harold was a member of the West Stockholm Methodist Church; was a 65 year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the West Stockholm Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed attending Blue Grass Festivals; going camping; visiting with his coffee club; was a huge Pittsburg Penguin fan (especially Sidney Crosby) and just enjoyed being around people immensely.
