Lloyd was born on June 6, 1923 in Potsdam, a son of the late William and Blanch (Fuller) Brown. He attended Potsdam area schools, and worked for a period of time at Gordon Theison’s car dealership as a salesman before enlisting in the US Army. He served in World War II from 1943 to 1946, during that time he fought in Normandy, Rhineland, and Northern France as a Corporal, cannoneer and received a purple heart for his service.
Lloyd was in charge of the fire department at the Sampson United States Air Force Base Naval Training Station in Seneca Lake for 3 years after his military service in 1946, then worked at a cheese factory in Potsdam for a decade before becoming a Special Deputy for the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department. After his service with the Sheriffs Department he became self-employed until his retirement. He married his longtime companion Edith French on July 21, 1999 in Parishville.
Mr. Brown loved to play guitar and played with many country music bands in the area. He also enjoyed fishing and boating locally and hunting in his younger years on White Hill. He was a humble man who worked for what he had and enjoyed the simple things in life.
