

Funeral service for Roger A. Miller, 61, of Colton will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam, with Rev. Douglas Lucia, officiating. Roger died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Emergency Room.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
Surviving Roger are his fiancé, Mary Anne Hayes-White of Colton; by his children, RJ Miller of Louisville; Crystal Brayman and husband Duane of Munnsville, NY; and Brendon and Ross Miller, both of South Colton, by five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Troy and Luke Brayman of Munnsville, NY and Riley and Kayleigh Miller of Louisville.
Also surviving Roger are siblings, Gilbert of West Potsdam; Joan Cary and husband George of Potsdam; Robert and Marlyne of Colton; Shirley Miller of Potsdam and Larry and Cheryl of Madrid; and several nieces and nephews.
Roger was born on August 26, 1950 in Potsdam, the son of the late Richard and Elsie (Smith) Miller. He graduated from Potsdam Schools. Roger worked in the kitchen at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, at St. Joe’s mines in Gouverneur while attending a mason apprenticeship during the day. He worked a short time as a mechanic for UPS before joining the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman’s Union Local 58 and later Local 2 out of Albany. The last 15+years he has worked at Corning Incorporated in Canton.
Roger loved to work, enjoyed rebuilding MG’s and being at Higley Flow and outdoors. He was a devoted father and friend.
